I just work out there for a couple of hours. I have a whole bunch of stuff that I gathered for yard art. I have a bunch of old wooden ladders that I am going to use for trellis for my and my clemantis and jasmine. So transplanted those out of pots and put the ladders up. May paint them bright colors in the Spring. I have an old wringer washing machine I am going to plant with flowers. Oh Oh! Forgot the manifesting lesson.

I am going to use this idea to put my grapes on. I think I have five wooden ladders and a couple of chain link gates to use to have things that need support grow on.

This is just some ideas I have. I also have an old wheelbarrow and a kids wagon to plant. Found garden art is fun and creative and a lot of it can be put in place this winter. Before I went out this morning put this ten bean soup on to cook in crock pot. I am eating vegan as my daughter is and it just makes it easier. I never do eat a lot of meat anyway.

Tomato and Bean Soup

Ingredients (use vegan versions):

    2 cups vegetable stock
1 can (16 oz.) garbanzo beans (chickpeas)
1 can (8 oz.) cut string beans or wax beans
1 can (8 oz.) kidney beans (red or pink)
1 package of ten bean soup beans.
    1 chopped onion
2 stalks of celery cut into 1/8-1/4 inch slices (horizontally)
    1 can tomato sauce
    1 can tomato paste
    oregano, parsley, basil, etc.
    salt & pepper

Directions:

Put the veggie stock in a decent sized pot to heat up. While it is cooking, cut the onion and celery. Add ten bean soup mix and cook until tender. Add the veggies to the stock along with all the cans of beans (including water or whatever else they are packed in). Add the tomato sauce, tomato paste, and spices to taste. Let boil, stirring periodically, and serve hot.

If you aren't vegan, try adding a splash of milk right before the soup boils.

Serves: 2-4

Preparation time: about 1 hour.

Ladies in Lavender
Cast: Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Natascha McElhone, Daniel Brühl, Miriam Margolyes, David Warner, Toby Jones
Director: Charles Dance
Genre: Drama
Rated: M low level coarse language
Running Time: 99 Minutes

The Story Of Two Sisters Who Saved A Stranger, And The Stranger Who Stole Their Hearts

Synopsis:
Set in picturesque coastal Cornwall, in a tight-knit fishing village in the 1930's, 'Ladies in Lavender' boasts the cream of British acting talent as Oscar and BAFTA award-winners Dame Judi Dench (Iris, Chocolat, recent James Bond films) and Dame Maggie Smith (Gosford Park, Tea with Mussolini, the Harry Potter films) play the leading roles of sisters Ursula (Dench) and Janet Widdington (Smith).

Rising German talent and award-winning Daniel Brühl (Goodbye Lenin!) plays Andrea. A gifted young Jewish violinist from Krakow, Andrea is bound for America when he is swept overboard by a fierce storm. When the Widdington sisters discover the handsome and mysterious stranger on the beach below their house, they nurse him back to health. However, the presence of the musically talented young man disrupts the peaceful lives of Ursula and Janet and the community in which they live.

My Verdict:

'Ladies in Lavender' is a bittersweet story of two sisters (Judi Dench and Maggie Smith) who live together in a quaint English fishing village, find a young man washed up on the beach beneath their house, take him home and help to rehabilitate him from his near death. As they soon discover, the man is not English which means overcoming a language barrier as they try to discover just who this mystery man is, where he came from, where was he going and more importantly, what are they going to do with him.

Charles Dance makes his directorial debut, also writing the screenplay from a story by William J. Locke, and slowly but surely reveals a beautifully told story of love and communication. Dance elicits such superb performances from Dench, Smith and also Miriam Margolyes who plays Dorcas, the housekeeper to the Widdington sisters. The interaction between Dench and Smith, as two sisters who live together, even sharing the same bedroom, is a pleasure to watch as they try their damnedest to win the heart of their new houseguest, Andrea Marowski (a comfortable Daniel Brühl). Slowly, Ursula (Dench) begins to fall in love with Andrea, which brings emotions to the surface that she finds hard to deal with, ultimately leading to her finding some solace through violinist Andrea's music. Watching Dench deal with these feelings is heartbreaking and a testament to her talent. By the way, Brühl does an excellent job of "playing" the violin - something that is often neglected in movies where a character performs with a musical instrument. Natascha McElhone plays Olga Daniloff, a visiting artist who provides the subject matter for a subplot involving Andrea and the local doctor, Dr. Francis Mead (David Warner)

Never overstated, this is a refined and polished movie, where the contrast of the personalities of the Widdington sisters, is offset by their matter-of-fact housekeeper Dorcas, who manages to impart some humour, albeit unintentionally. The final scene felt a little rushed after all the effort leading towards it and was a tad disappointing - more of the aftermath of Andrea's tenure was needed - but this is getting very picky in an otherwise contemplative and delightful movie.

Just to see the two Dames of British stage and screen together (again) is a privilege.

Rating : B

Christina Bruce
http://www.femail.com.au/ladies-in-lavender-review.htm
Personally I loved it I did not think it should have a B rating. The music was wonderful. It did feel like the story could have been filled out a bit in places.

Just finished reading:

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

When Sue Bender proudly announced to a friend that her first book, Plain and Simple had made it to the New York Times bestseller list, her friend immediately shot back, "But what number on the list are you?" Bender was shocked, realizing that nothing we accomplish seems like enough in our overly pressured world. In Everyday Sacred we follow Bender on her quest to make every moment enough. Cleaning a desk, sipping cappuccino, making computer connections, and appreciating freshly painted walls all become opportunities to satiate one's life with sacred encounters. The end product reads like an Amish quilt--simple vignettes sewn together to create a comfortable lifetime companion.

From Publishers Weekly
The Zen monk's begging bowl is the pervasive image in this author's continuing spiritual journey she began recording in her bestselling Plain and Simple, in which she described her time living among the Amish. Here, she tells how, back home amid the more mundane experience of her daily life, she accepted the challenge of finding meaning by daily proferring the beggar's bowl to be filled with the sacredness of everyday life. The lessons and stories that fill her bowl are related to Bender's life-ordinary events seen with fresh eyes and offered as simple ways for busy people to incorporate reflective periods into their lives. The simplicity that made her earlier book appealing is also evident here. Cleaning my home. Having my own home. Being creative. Resting and having a nap. Living in the now. Seeing miracles in ordinary everyday things. I am grateful for books, and movies. I am grateful for our local library. So it is, all is well, I love you all, Judi

1. Whilst you are learning or ‘getting better at’ manifesting (isn’t everyone), remember to play, it doesn’t matter how 'good' or how ‘bad’ you are at it, your attention is on the 'playing', THAT'S where the energy flows from

2. Be passionate about being passionate, that’s the intention of your goals remember, what energy they flow for you

3. The Universe loves you unconditionally. It loves you so unconditionally that you don’t have to believe it loves you and it will still love you.

4. You are inherently free in this Universe. You are free to think what you like and thus are free to set your vibrational tone to what you like
It is always about the Now.
5. Anything you think about the present and future are all perceptions FROM THE NOW.

6. Any emotion or anything you work with, get it to how you feel about it in the Now, that’s where the leverage is, rather than ‘I felt x’ about it, why are you mentioning it Now? Why does it come up Now? What is the emotion at Now?
When you think of your goals and if you feel uncomfortable (you can replace that word with any negative emotion) it is because there is discord between your desire and your belief, they are vibrationally apart at that moment. There is a difference between what you want and your current thoughts about it. Your job, using the techniques here, is to bridge that gap and have the manifestation

7. One way to deal with discord when thinking of your goals is to ‘soften’ the resistance/discord. So rather than thinking of the million you will have, start with a concept such as "money goes where attention goes" – i.e. something general which you know you are ok with believing now, and when that feels comfortable/familiar, build it up to something else, and so on to the goal....

8. Take steps, getting [vibrationally] familiar each step of the way, make the emotional journey to the goal

9. The Emotional (spiritual) journey has far far far more leverage and power than the Action (physical) journey.

10. The physical is a manifestation of the spiritual

Manifesting lesson one

My World: Well the new job is official. It pays really well, the people are wonderful. It is nights like I want. I am going to start after the first of the year. In the meantime I am trying to get a job in Sedona, Arizona. It may work out yet that I get to go there free and work for a man who travels down there every winter. Assignments: Three Appreciation Games

by Connee Chandler

Begin by making a list of 10 things you love. As you do it, notice how you feel. It may serve as a graphic demonstration of the joys of "The Appreciation Games," our first topic. I think it is wonderful to spend time in contemplation of all that you appreciate in your life, and to share in the results of our thoughts of what we appreciate.

Abraham says that appreciation is the highest vibration we know. What we call "being in love" includes also the vibration of yearning, and is not pure. But when you appreciate, you automatically allow your vibration to return to the high, fast vibration of your core. If you tried writing the list of 10 things you love, I bet you clearly demonstrated the upswelling of joy caused by writing a letter of appreciation.

So that is the first of the three promised appreciation games.

The second is "What do I like about this?" Abraham tells the story of the man in his car who invented the game when he was stuck in traffic. He said it was very easy to notice what he didn`t like about that. So he determinedly decided to notice what he did like about it. That his car was reliable and comfortable and his air conditioning was great even though it was warm outside. That his car phone gave him access to the outside world. That he had an off button on his car phone that allowed him to shut out the outside world! That there was a very pretty girl in the next car, and he`d been beside her for a long time. He really liked that!

My experience with "What do I like about this?" is to incorporate it in any part of my day, whether I was actively liking the day, or not. Just the activity of basking in my appreciation of what is going on, enhances my awareness and makes me more mindful of how good my life is and how much I love so much of what is in my experience. In the grocery store, I can like the abundance of healthful, inexpensive, beautifully prepared and presented food. I can like the cheerful staff, and compliment them on how much I like to shop there. I can appreciate the cleanliness of the store, and how they carry my favorite brands. I can like that I have the money to put one of these and one of those and several of these in my basket. I can notice my basket is moving gracefully about the store before me, making it simple for me to carry all the wonderful food I am wanting to buy. I can like that I have a reliable car to get me to and from the store, and that the store provides nice men to bag my groceries and put them in my trunk.

In every moment there is at least that much, and probably much more, to like, if we look for what we like about this. And of course, Law of Attraction gives us more of what we like to notice, just as soon as we put our focus there!

The third appreciation game is "Book of Positive Aspects." It is "What do I like about this" focused and

made more emphatic by writing it down, preserving, and accumulating it. We have used it a lot on the

Abraham Internet mailing list as a way of dealing with people with whom we are experiencing

conflict, but Abraham`s definition of it is even broader.

I appreciate my old scheduler because usually she is pleasant and efficient.

I appreciate that she called me all the time about work.

I am grateful that I get to take a time off of work with plenty of money to live on before I start my new job.

I am grateful I am going someplace completely new with my daughter before I have to work again.

I am really grateful that I am going to retire soon well maybe not retire but do something altogether different.

I am grateful that I saw myself the control freak in my scheduler so I could let go of her and the control I was trying to keep.

I am grateful when I can just let go and let God. Control is about fear.

I am so grateful that I have no need to fix others. It is hard for me when I listen to my friends be victims I
want to fix it.

I want to fix things for my daughters.

10. I want to be codependent but that is not a good choice.

Here's what the Abraham-Hicks calendar, page 381, says about "BOPA."

This is the photo for my new blank book for fall.

"Your Book of Positive Aspects

You are upon the brink of magnificent, deliberate creating. You have been the creators of your experience from the day that you emerged into this body. Now you will be the deliberate creators of your experience. Trust that which comes forth from within you.

If you will buy a new notebook, and call it your Book of Positive Aspects, and spend 10 minutes each day writing positive aspects about your home, your body, your work, your relationships...If you will wake up every morning acknowledging that you have re-emerged into the physical and that today you will look for reasons to feel good...And if you will pay attention to the way you are feeling, and utilize the process of pivoting [we will cover pivoting in detail next week]...it is our absolute promise to you, that -- within 30 days -- you will see such a dramatic turn of events in your life experience, that you will not believe you are the same person."

So, Abraham says that BOPA can be used for all aspects of your life, expanding on the many things you already know you love, everyone you know, your body, your work, your prosperity and so on.

When you are appreciating someone, and they are unable to uplift themselves to the level of your vibration, they vibrate right out of your experience. Most people you love will be uplifted by your appreciation to a new level of appreciation and connectedness for themselves.

That is the "content" of class 1. We covered 3 appreciation processes. "The Appreciation Game" was done as "10 things I love", "What do I like about this" was explained, and "Book of Positive Aspects" was also explored.

Assignment on Appreciation Games

The assignment is to actually practice using the Book of Positive Aspects. Start out by making a list of people, living and dead, as you can think of in your life who have influenced you significantly. I came up with 75 in the first 10 minutes! Think of immediate family, extended family, teachers, friends, lovers, co-workers, students, employees, employers, acquaintances in the community, writers whose works you have studied, people you have tried to emulate.

I noticed in doing this exercise that there were several people I went to school with over 20 years ago on my list that I could immediately think of NOTHING good about! I have not thought of these people in years, but my vibration of resistance/resentment was right where I left it, 20 years ago! BOPA was a great opportunity for me to easily clear out some underlying resistance that has been there, negatively affecting my life until now.

Then pick 2 people from your list who are easy to adore, and 2 who are more of a challenge. Find a notebook, and write the names of each on the top of a fresh page. Then, on that page, write as many positive aspects as you can think of for that person. Do the people you adore first, so it is easier to get the ball rolling. Sometimes it is easier to see a good quality in the "challenging" people after you have appreciated it a friend or family member. Abraham says, if you can't think of anything good at all, make something up! \

Note that when you are doing the BOPA, you might discover yourself trying to do positive aspects of one person you are having trouble with, and noticing that instead you are thinking of someone else behaving in a similar way from your past. Should this happen, go ahead and write a BOPA page on the person from the past as well.

After you have done this exercise, please consider sharing your results with either by sharing a couple of your lists, and/or by sharing you reactions/feelings/comments about the BOPA process. Feel free to make comments about your experience with the two other appreciation games, as well.

I hope all this is clear and fun for you to do.
http://www.whatanicewebsite.com/Connee/Appreciation.htm

Share Your Gratefuls. I may write more but I am only going to make a goal of writing and keeping up with my friends once a week. I hope I do not lose touch with you but I just need to be concentrating on spending more time with my spiritual life. I want to read more. I want to do a lot of deliberate creation.

Deliberate Creation

In the teachings of Abraham, there are 3 basic universal laws:

1) The Law of Attraction – like attracts like

2) The Law of Deliberate Creation – what you put your energy into, what you think about and focus upon grows

3) The Law of Allowing – be open to what comes your way and receive your desires and your good

These three universal laws surface in different ways in different schools of thought, but the central concept is the same.

Law of Attraction states that "like attracts like." Experiences and things are attracted to other experiences and things with a similar vibration. Thoughts and feelings are "things" that vibrate along with every thing else in the Universe. ∞

Law of Attraction is in effect whether we use it consciously or not. We can either choose our thoughts and the focus of our attention and create a reality that we appreciate... or we can simply create by default whatever our thoughts, beliefs, feelings, and focus of energy brings, whether it is what we want ... or not.

The way the Universe works:

God (Spirit, Universal Intelligence) is All That Is - the Source of all Life, of all health, happiness, wealth, abundance, and Love.

All That Is is creative energy. Every thing in the Universe is made up of energy that vibrates.
bullet

Like magnets, things vibrating similarly attract. Like attracts like. The Law of Attraction is a universal law that is always in effect. It works every time without exception.
bullet

Thoughts and feelings create. Thoughts and feelings are "things" and they create by attracting experiences and other "things" that vibrate at a similar rate.
bullet

We get more of that which we put our thoughts and emotions on, whether we like it, or want it, or not. We create the lives we are living with our thoughts and feelings.

"Think on these things... "

Whatever we place our attention on, whatever we think about, imagine, believe and feel strongly about we attract more of into our experience.

Deliberate Creation is the art and science of dwelling upon beauty and love and joy in order to choose the life we want to live.

If our thoughts, beliefs and emotions (our predominant vibration) create our lives, then let’s choose. Let’s decide what we create rather than creating by default, creating unconsciously, and just continuously reacting from a position of powerlessness.

This is the space in which we use techniques like creative visualization, affirmation, goal setting, and wish lists. We want to be clear on what we want in order to deliberately bring it into our lives. If we are not clear about a specific object we want, we can be clear on the feelings we want, the “essence” of our desires.

This is where our dreams and our hearts desires speak to us, beckon to us. Where did these dreams and desires come from? Same place every thing in the Universe comes from… Source. Spirit. Divine Intelligence. God.

Once we have stated our desires, that is really all that is necessary. The Universe immediately goes to work to manifest what we are asking for. That which we place our thoughts, feelings, and energy on - "asking" - we create. Even if it is what we do not want. In line with Law of Attraction, we can create deliberately by choosing thoughts, feelings, and energy in alignment with whatever it is we truly want to create.

"Whatsoever you ask for, believing, you will receive, " Jesus said.

If a belief is a thought that we repeat so often that we "believe" it, then we can see how deliberately holding and repeating a thought, particularly when infused with pure positive emotion and energy, can create the beliefs we want and need to manifest our desires.

And when we ask, believing, we receive.

When we dwell on our desires, believing it is possible to have that, expecting to receive it, and opening to accept it... we are unstoppable.
http://www.swroadsigns.com/deliberate.htm

It is not more difficult to create a castle than a button. Most of you have more buttons than castles, however, because they're easier to expect.
Abraham
http://www.abraham-hicks.com

What I am grateful for today: I am grateful for a nicely furnished, neat and clean home. The only output you can expect from a computer is only as good as the input.

Some software programs work efficiently and seems intuitive to our needs. While, other software programs are slow and clunky and can’t be trusted to provide the desired output.

Our subconscious mind is very much like a computer. The subconscious mind is the driving force behind our lives and manifests whatever we input. This is why children who are given positive feedback and reminded of their infinite abilities succeed in life while children who are abused and given negative feedback have a hard time getting through life. While we are children, it is up to our parents to feed our subconscious mind, but as adults, we must take full responsibility for what is input in the subconscious.

A well-programmed subconscious mind makes the difference between happiness and sadness, success and failure, realizing possibilities and despair.

It is easy to program your subconscious mind and I see it as these 10 simple steps.

1. Be the guardian of everything that enters your mind. Know that everything you see hear and feel goes directly into your subconscious mind and you must manage the information you allow in. Eliminate negative information as much as you can by limiting the amount of news you read, stop seeing violent movies, read only positive information. Keep the positive information flowing into your mind and your subconscious will naturally become more positive.

2. Speak kindly to yourself. When you look in the mirror do you like what you see? Do you compliment yourself on your most outstanding attributes? Stop all negative talk to yourself immediately. You are a perfect creation of God and you have beautiful traits that need recognizing. Remind yourself of your great eyes or your winning smile—whatever sets you apart from everyone else in a positive way. Your subconscious will thank you.

3. Surround yourself with positive people. Negative people can quickly lead to negative thoughts. Make sure your group of friends are those that love and admire you for the great person you are. Eliminate any time spent with anyone who brings you down. You can’t afford the hit to your subconscious mind simply to maintain a negative friendship.

4. Use affirmations to your advantage and the optimum times when your subconscious mind is listening. Immediately upon waking and immediately upon going to bed are the times when your conscious and subconscious mind are closest. It is at these times when you get the biggest bang out of your affirmations. Use positive affirmations at these times to super-program the subconscious. Some examples of positive affirmations are:

    * I am one with the creative power that is materializing all my desires.
    * Money is my friend. I have plenty of money.
    * I freely express my creativity

5. Be grateful Oprah Winfrey has done a magnificent job of reminding us all how important it is to have gratitude in our lives. Having gratitude allow us to realize the blessings we already have and keeps us open to receive so much more. Make a list of everything you are grateful for and grow this list as time goes on. On any day when it seems that nothing is going your way refer back to this list and remind yourself of all the blessings you already have. Your subconscious mind needs to know what you are grateful for so it can manifest more of the same for you.

6. Manage your time. There are twenty-four hours in the day for everyone. The wealthy and the poor all have the same amount of time—the difference is in how they use their time. On the first day of each month plan, what you wish to accomplish. At the beginning of each week, make lists that support your plan along with all the necessary tasks that keep life going. Daily make lists of tasks you will accomplish that support all of the above. Keep your to-do list with you and check off all of your accomplished tasks. Your subconscious mind needs to see all the tiny accomplishments it takes for continued growth—not all those little checkmarks on your to-do list will go unnoticed.

7. Surround yourself with your favorite things. Begin today placing your favorite things in full view in your home. Whether these be family pictures, treasures from your travels or sport memorabilia, always keep these things visible. You should be completely comfortable at home and your subconscious mind will benefit your renewed feeling of comfort and the peace you will have at home when you have your favorite things around you.

8. Set aside time for you. Everyone needs time to reflect. Whether you pray, meditate, practice yoga, or just read positive information. Set aside an hour each day for yourself. Your subconscious mind needs to know just how important you are and nothing shows this importance than having time for yourself. Many believe there is not a free hour in the day for themselves. Whether you have to wake an hour early or go to bed an hour later having an hour of peace is an important way to clear your mind and open yourself to the possibilities your subconscious mind can offer.

9. Be the person you admire Make a list of the attributes you most admire in others and incorporate these into your own life—one by one. Once you begin to admire yourself, your subconscious mind will have a higher opinion of you as well.

10. Maintain a lighthearted/happy spirit. Never allow the pressures of the day to bring you down. Make it a point to be light hearted and happy as much as humanly possible. Dwelling on the negatives of life badly affects your subconscious mind. Keeping a positive spirit will keep your subconscious mind well programmed and open to wonderful possibilities.
David Holmes - EzineArticles Expert Author

David Zack Holmes writes his features from a southern point of view. Whitehouse MD PHD

The Most Dreaded Disease of Our Time: Demystified

Betty Friedan helped change our thoughts and language about gender relations. Martin Luther King, Jr. helped change our thoughts and language about racial relations. Now Dr. Peter Whitehouse is helping change our thoughts and language about aging - more particularly about our aging brains. And this is a very good time for another social revolution in thought and language. Seventy-eight million Baby Boomers are reaching a time in life when brain changes due to aging are inevitable and, with enough time passing, universal.

The language we use to describe the inevitabilities of cognitive aging tap into the deepest reservoirs of fear: senior moments, dementia, loss of self, and organic brain dysfunction. In particular, we think of two words with unspoken angst: Alzheimer's disease.

In "The Myth of Alzheimer's: What You Aren't Being Told About Today's Most Dreaded Diagnosis," Dr. Whitehouse and his young literary protégé, Daniel George, address the very foundation of our cultural and social relationships to the most dreaded disease of modern times. First described in 1907 by Alois Alzheimer, this disease has grown into a "$100-billion-a-year marketing and research juggernaut, with more than 25 million afflicted worldwide." The victims of this mysterious milady face ostracism, institutionalization, isolation, loneliness and dependency. The perpetrators of the Myths are comfortable with our collective fears because they inspire research budgets, drug sales, elaborate diagnostic testing protocols, and nicely decorated prison facilities.

Above all, the Myths perpetrators create another class of human being, the unfortunate mortals who are less-than-fully human because of diminishing memories, communication skills and competencies with the activities of daily living. They are dying brains without hearts.
To most of us, such a medical diagnosis is a decree worse than death itself. It is what we dread for our parents; it is what we fear for ourselves. The authors believe the time has come to change our language and our innate conceptions of cognitive aging

With more than 30 years of experience as a scientist and geriatric neurologist, Dr. Whitehouse has been at the forefront of the evolution of the disease we call Alzheimer's. He has earned over a million dollars consulting with pharmaceutical companies about development of cholinesterase inhibitors, the contemporary silver bullets in drug therapies for early treatment of disease symptoms. He has accepted grants to support research and education in service of the same industry, valued at millions of more dollars. He has traveled the world to discuss the marvels of the coming cognitive pharmacopeia, again a benefactor of drug industry dollars.

And, finally, he has set in motion a pugnacious call for sensibility and a more informed public. As he portends, "(the book) is at root a book for Baby Boomers and health care professionals, and anyone else who wants to join me in bringing a new understanding to Alzheimer's disease and taking control of their own brain aging."

Taking control is a clarion call for the Boomer generation. Taking control is our legacy, and at exactly the right moment in the trajectory of our lives, Peter Whitehouse passionately compels us to take control of the source of our humanity, our creativity, our intellect, our personhood ... our brains. He suggests we have choices if we have knowledge and wisdom. He suggests we have dignity if we change our paradigms. He suggests we have the power to change what it means to be human across the entire lifespan, up to and including the twilight years when some of us inevitably will confront the challenges of cognitive decline. He suggests we no longer need passively to resign to medicine's most fearsome diagnosis, for either ourselves or those we love. He tells us we can deconstruct Alzheimer's and together create a more humanistic, healthy and hopeful view of brain aging. That can be our generation's final legacy.

To help us get from here to there (by overcoming the tyranny of AD), the authors have written a new narrative about brain aging. By employing the transformative power of stories and anecdotes, buttressed by the precision of hard science, they take readers through a fascinating journey.

Unabashedly they stare down the mythmakers. AD is not a brain disease or a mental illness; symptoms we associate with AD are not simply a brain's molecular breakdown occurring in old age but more often "a rainstorm that occurs throughout life." A new conception demands this cluster of cognitive changes to become both an individual's and humanity's long-term responsibility, from personal health choices to taking care of the planet that sustains and, because of environmental degradation, poisons us.

Dr. Whitehouse challenges us that AD does not lead to loss of self, as we might have envisioned the plight of President Ronald Reagan; rather, persons with cognitive impairment are still able to be vital contributors to society until the final days of life. By evoking new paradigms about brain aging, we can allow people the noble opportunities to continue contributing. For example, Dr. Whitehouse is also a founder with his wife of The Intergenerational School, a farsighted institution that brings children together with wise teachers who are great repositories of life's most important lessons.

If this book simply accomplished the objective of "creating a new cultural narrative that can shape the way we age in the twenty-first century," it would be an important work worthy of careful review and contemplation. But the good doctor and his protégé take their work even further by creating a new model of living with brain aging. Dr Whitehouse unveils everything we need to understand, from preparing for a doctor's visit to knowing how to live successfully with aging across the human lifespan.

So, in the end, he teaches readers how to "think like a mountain." For example, Boomers can climb the first peak by rethinking mortality. Instead of elevating "anti-aging" as the highest purpose for our credit cards, Dr. Whitehouse suggests that the energy (both psychic and monetary) for self-preservation can instead be directed at "becoming agents of great change in the world," the final expression of Boomers' highest aspirations in youth. Another peak to scale is self-indulgence that costs our health. So simply he suggests eating well, exercising judiciously and eliminating bad habits that foster disease.

This seminal book isn't just about Alzheimer's or the Myths that infuse the disease with too much power over our collective consciousness; it is the most intelligent work thus far about our generation's final crusade, the quest for wisdom in our longevity.

The Myth of Alzheimer's is not only relevant to people who have the potential of one day being wrongfully diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease (which already includes everybody) but also to people interested in the medical community.
As a field, medicine is commonly criticized for lacking empathy with our patients that we usually treat like customers. Medicine also seem to lack accountability (only when major mistakes are made do physicians get super
Call it political correctness. Call it academic pressure. Call it whatever you wish, but understand that there is pressure, both subtle and overt, to follow only the conventional medical model where Alzheimer's is concerned. This model decrees that cure in the form of a pill or other medical device is the only solution to the problems of the aging brain. Huge amounts of money flow to that end.

In The Myth of Alzheimer's, authors Whitehouse and George ask you to understand that:

· what we are routinely told is not the whole truth about Alzheimer's disease,

· there is no universal agreement on the cause or cure for the symptoms of Alzheimer's in brain or behavior, and

· a billion-dollar industry relies on the perpetuation of the myth of Alzheimer's.

Heresy, pure and simple.

If the author were less well educated or experienced, we could burn him at the stake or, at the very least, denigrate his notions as those of a far-out kook. But as it is, we must regard his observations as having some degree of credibility.

Whitehouse and George devote a chapter to the billion-dollar industry that has grown up around Alzheimer's disease, especially to those associations and foundations that have benefited richly from contributions.

Of course, it's not only associations and foundations that focus so little on assistance and prevention and so much on a "cure" that has failed to materialize. Governmental bodies and pharmaceutical companies currently operate big budgets to fund hundreds of studies searching for the "cure" or symptom amelioration. Of those only about two percent focus on prevention.

The Myth of Alzheimer's is the right book at the right time. More and more people are turning away from conventional medicine, partly because its cost has skyrocketed, partly because its "promises" have failed to materialize or damaged those who trusted it. The ideas this book presents will help both the aging and their caregivers gain maximum comfort at minimal cost and reduced risk.

This is a uniquely important book. Read it. Learn about the theories of causation. Learn how your approach affects sufferers. Allow it to open your mind to new ways of thinking about and dealing with the syndrome known as Alzheimer's disease.

Thank you, Dr. Whitehouse, for presenting an extraordinary alternate view that encourages people to take responsibility for their own aging, their own health

I'm only in college but I've been a part-time caregiver for my great aunt since October and this book was really inspiring to my mom and I when we read it a couple weeks ago. We never say that my aunt has a "disease", and this validated our belief that she is a regular person who is still capable of having some quality of life in spite of the changes that she is undergoing. We look at old pictures together, and she still gets a lot of pleasure from doing simple things like that (the book suggests a few activities you can do). All in all, I would recommend this book to anyone who is caregiving for someone, and really anyone else who is interested because there's a lot of information and a fresh new perspective here that I believe will really catch on if people give it a chance.

This review is from an insider, I am an 86 year old retired engineer who is coping with the early stages of the problem itself.

The position of the author is that what is called "Alzheimer's Disease" is essentially the same as 'Old Age' but the Alzheimer's word is too scary and should be avoided.

On pg 36 he states "statistically speaking, it is not normal to be demented at sixty six, whereas the onset of of some dementia in one's eighties, ninetie's or beyond is more or less the normal expectation"..."It would actually be quite abnormal for someone not to have increasing memory challenges in their seventies, eighties, and beyond".

The book is very good and with many examples explains clearly the many individual problems of Alzheimer's. I would recommend it to other older folks who wonder, or to the family members weho are worried about Mom or Dad.

Don't let the title fool you. Unfortunately it gives the impression of debunking the problem, but he emphasizes that the problem is real and he is only discouraging the use of that scary word, Alzheimer's.

I personally feel he spends too much time regailing the political issue of the evils of greed.

I have only one complaint. While he mentions PET scanning (Positron Emissions Testing) as a research tool, he does not point out that it is acctually available to the patient as the first, and possibbly the only, real medical test which positively diagnoses the problem in a living patient. (Much sooner than waiting for an autopsy which had been the only positive diagnosis for 100 years.) It is expensive but, with a doctor's prescription, it is covered by Medi-Care for us old folks. I am personally thankful that it tipped me off about a year ahead of time that due to "cerebellar volume loss" I would soon be using a cane in addition to the memory problems already apparent due to "cebellar volume loss" as also measured by the scan.

Although this book has a lot of interesting information, it's basically just a book about his theory about Alzheimer's, what causes it, and how to avoid getting it if you don't have it yet. There's also some discussion of nutrition, etc. While I don't necessarily disagree with him (his theory makes a lot of sense) it's not really all that I wanted to see in the book. I would have appreciated a chapter or two at first detailing basic information about Alzheimer's, what is believed about it, how it progresses, what can be expected as it progresses and any helpful ideas about dealing with it. My mother has just been diagnosed and I'd like some ideas about what to expect and what is actually going on in her body, as well as why she does some of the things she does. I haven't quite finished the book, but I haven't found any of that yet. And I found endless discussion about his theory a little tedious. It basically comes down to what you're looking for. Someday when I have time (my mother lives with me and keeps me busy now) I might enjoy this book a bit more. But right now, I really wanted a lot more help dealing with and understanding Alzheimer's, not theories about what causes it.

"In less than 25 years, Alzheimer disease evolved from being a rare cause of early onset dementia to a disorder feared by almost every adult. The Myth of Alzheimer's is a thought provoking book that raises important questions about later life cognitive decline and Alzheimer disease. I highly recommend it."
-Peter V. Rabins, M.D., MPH, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, co-author of The 36-Hour Day

"Alzheimer's strikes fear into the American psyche. Whitehouse and George carefully and thoughtfully offer a way to empower ourselves and walk through that fear. The Myth of Alzheimer's is deliberately provocative, carefully researched, and lovingly rendered."
-Anne Basting, Director, University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee Center on Age & Community, author of Forget Memory

I also watched three good movies but will not even try and tell you about those as I am doing so poorly uploading photos tonight. None of this is real anyway so it is just a lesson I made up to teach myself to look to God for everything. Put God first and all else is added on.

It is so neat that every time I pick up the phone it is Ms. L. my scheduler she is having me work more with Mr. E. all the time I am scheduled with him four days a week now. Then she works me on the weekends at least one day or two just enough for some variety. I am taking Gracie home the Mama kitty this week. She is tame so I can have her fixed for cheap. Then I will give her shots to her. She now has a really nice kitty house in our back yard. Next week I will take one of the kittens. Now that might be another story. But I am sure I can catch her they all like me cause I feed them. But anyway until they are a bit more socialized they have to come home with me and then will get them homes. I am excited about them coming home with me. The guy who is going to do my bathroom is a really nice guy. He is going to do it a lot cheaper than someone else would. I am going to have to do it a piece at a time anyway. It is expensive just to get the new faucets I bought in and the tub and surround. But since money is not a worry of mine lately I should be able to save enough to get that part done almost right away. I got two free dog igloos on Craig's list. One I am going to use for my chickens and one for the kitties. I also got a bunch of concrete blocks to get them up in the air. I got some free fencing too for the chickens. Both Igloos have doors I can lock at night.

I got a free bathtub on Craigs list it is really nice. I am going to buy a new cabinet and sink at Lowe's they have them for $125.00. then I may have to wait until I find it but I am going to find a commerical toilet. I think I will put down the same black tile I have down now and paint the walls an off white. I like that contrast. Then I can accent in red. This all should be done right after the first of the year. I am excited. What I am most excited about though is that by using the Radical Forgiveness worksheet and book I seem to have overcome my overworking, overeating, and fears about money. Oh yes that is so sweet.

Update on my mentally ill loved ones. I am back going to my women's group and I am only spending time with them when I feel exceptionly strong and want to give them time not letting them act as emotional vampires in my life. I have a right to feel good and not have to give them all my energy. That is another great big thank you God.

This is what I have been using:

Hello, Judi! Logout

Introduction and Instructions

The Radical Forgiveness Worksheet

Welcome to the FREE Radical Forgiveness Worksheet. It‘s difficult to believe, I know, but it is true and it works. In fact, you can test it for yourself. We have built in a simple way to get feedback on just how effective the worksheet has been for you on each occasion that you use it.

If, after having completed this on-line worksheet, you feel you could really do with some one-on-one assistance from a certified Radical Forgiveness Coach, please visit the Radical Forgiveness Coach section of the web site.

ABOUT THE WORKSHEET

The Radical Forgiveness worksheet has literally changed thousands of lives. It is not easy to explain how and why it accomplishes such dramatic results except to say that it helps people shift their energy. You could say that doing the worksheet is, in and of itself, an energy experience. The worksheet helps us change our perspective. We open ourselves to the possibility that everything happens for a reason. If we could see the big picture (which we can‘t), we would see how all events fit together as part of a Divine plan.

The worksheet presents the idea that we have created our experiences in order to learn and grow. When we look back on our lives, we can often see how a situation, that seemed so intolerable at the time, was actually a gift and a time of tremendous growth for us. So too, as we move through the worksheet process, we begin to realize that the people who trouble us the most are often our greatest teachers and healers.

Simply by expressing our willingness to shift our perception in this direction, "stuck energy" can be released, no matter how skeptical or resistant we are at the beginning. Once the energy moves, the situation seems to resolve itself automatically. Be assured that even the tiniest amount of willingness is enough. In fact, just choosing to do the worksheet demonstrates enough willingness to allow the process to work—really.

So now, decide on an issue and begin the process.

With warm regards,

Colin Tipping

After joining the radical forgiveness site you can read the book online and

download the worksheet here. I was expoused to this material long ago but wasn't

ready to use it. Subconscious Exploration

 2. Spirit Guide and Collective Unconscious Information

 3. Information You Have Given to Your Heart

SUBCONSCIOUS EXPLORATION SECTION

1. Take one topic a day (remember there is no judgment here, only self-awareness of what you believe and feel at a formerly subconscious level.) At the end of the article, I share with you how to introduce a new subconscious belief that will help you achieve your changes with speed, ease, comfort and joy.

2. Make the decision to be alone for a maximum of one hour when you sit down to do your Automatic Writing Exercise. This means NO INTERRUPTIONS!

3. Get quiet. Remember or imagine the feelings you experience when you have a wonderful daydream, and let that feeling move through you.

4. Now open your Automatic Writing Journal, go to the first page, date it, and draw a large circle in the middle of the page. Allow yourself to write whatever comes to mind about the topic or question you have chosen.

RECEIVING SPIRIT GUIDE and COLLECTIVE UNCONSCIOUS INFORMATION

1. Ask your Spirit Guides to help you. We are born with 21 Spirit Guides who are with us all the time. They are just waiting to hear from you.

2. Ask them to bring into your Spiritual Connection Energy the Spirit Specialist that can help you with clearing "Inner Mind Spiritual Connections."

3. Be sure that you are very clear with them. They want to be sure they are responding to your needs. (All of this goes into your Akashic Records). Keep in mind that both you and your guides are working on their and your karma.

4. It is very important to thank your Guides whenever you receive an answer or help. They are working with their Karma just as you are; they are just on the other side.

5. You also have the ability to build a Spiritual Connection to those people you admire whether they are dead or alive via the collective unconscious. On the spiritual plane we are all the same, just energy filled with the thoughts we have created from the beginning of our Karmic Journey.

*IF YOU ARE NOT USED TO WORKING WITH YOUR SPIRIT GUIDES, you need to start tracking the physical feelings you have when your guides have helped you and you know it. This creates a subconscious point of reference that will respond each time you and your spirit guides have a positive experience or connection.

INFORMATION YOU HAVE GIVEN TO YOUR HEART

This is very simple. You will need to close your eyes and breathe very deeply and slowly for 10 breaths. Now give all of the fears and negative emotions you have written in your Automatic Writing Journal to your heart. Imagine a tube running from inside your mind directly to your heart. Keep in mind that thoughts are things, and begin moving your thoughts and their energy into the tube and into your heart.

Information from your Dreaming Journal must also be given to your heart using the same process, as a tube from your dreaming place to your heart. Don't do anything else. Let your HEART ENERGY TAKE IT FROM THERE.

QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT ASK YOURSELF

What are my worst fears concerning changing my life?

I want to be (describe what you want). What are my subconscious feelings about it?

How will the people I love react to the new me?

What past experiences are influencing my process of change?

Am I good at handling money?

You may choose to write some questions of your own.

DREAM JOURNAL

Whatever question you are using for your Automatic Writing Session, ask yourself in a slow mental monotone the same question OVER AND OVER just before going to sleep.

For example, you might ask yourself, "What are my worst fears concerning changing my life?" Don't get into the fears, just keep asking the questions until you dream the answer.

Once you have had the dream connected with the question, write the dream down so that you can begin to see what you believe in your dream world.

NOW IS THE TIME FOR YOU TO DO YOUR HUMAN JOB

Once you have answered all of the questions in your Automatic Writing Journal and asked for help from your Spirit Guides and Collective Unconscious, turn the information over to your heart.

Your human job is to:

1.
